All good here – just occasionally the ITV HD not received. I’ve still got some Diseqc problems. I bought this: Axing SPU 21-02 DiSEqC (https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B002BZHWRQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which works fine with my main set-top boxes but I couldn’t get to switch with any USB receivers attached to a PC. So I bought one of these: DiSEqC 1,0 2/1 Switch Schwaiger SEW 4021 (https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B004S7X1VQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) hoping for better results, but same problem. The USB receivers worked with the old Hamma switch which failed, but it seems that both the Axing and Schwaiger need more current to activate the switch from one dish to another. I measured the amps produced by the Technomate box – nearly 1 amp, a lot more than the 0.1 amps produced by the Tevii, Technisat or TBS units.05/03/2017 at 4:47 pm #35498
“Just occasionally the ITV HD not received.”!!….
No chance of that here!…ITV HD is long gone by 7pm ish …others ok tho… 🙂
btw …the Schwaiger has a little switch on the top ……
but I can’t remember if its for manual switching or something else ?
Or maybe try a Diseqc generator ? ….
Ive never needed or tried one out ….but might work….Or just get another Hama Switch….07/03/2017 at 8:09 pm #35511
Hi Steve. Yes, there’s a switch on top of the Schwaiger to change from Diseqc to Toneburst mode, but neither works with my USB receivers. I would get another Hamma but I have the impression there is less signal loss with the Schaiger. Thanks for the suggestion of a Diseqc generator – didn’t know that such a thing even existed.10/03/2017 at 7:08 pm #35536
Quailty signal dropped here in SW France, probably the gales earlier in the week, will wait a bit before playing with the dish in case they improve11/03/2017 at 10:28 pm #35539
Same here. Reception has been getting worse over the last couple of days and tonight not even SD channels are watchable.13/03/2017 at 6:30 am #35545
signal definitely dropping over the past week14/03/2017 at 8:44 pm #35552
CNR of my 6 tracked channels at 8 pm tonight was between 10,5 and 11,5 db. These values are IDENTICAL to those at same date and time of 2016.
Signal is on the decrease (as usual) and is now 4 to 5 db below the highest recorded evening values of early February.
Just acquired a Sony 4k Android TV with built-in SAT tuner and will be interesting to see how this performs compared to the Humax (which I still have connected to a second TV) as the signal drops.15/03/2017 at 8:18 am #35554
Derek….there is some UHD test transmitions on Astra 19 and 28 …..to try on your new toy! ….. for some reason I can’t do a link ?………just search “onastra.com/uhd ” .. tuning details are on there………
I can’t see these channels ..as my Pioneer KRP 500 tv sat tuner and the Humax tuners are old fashioned HD only……
but should look good on your new UHD Sony gadget …15/03/2017 at 2:21 pm #35557
Thanks Steve, I found the Astra UHD demos – quite impressive. Also just ordered a 4k Blue Ray player so hope there is some programme material out there to try.16/03/2017 at 10:14 am #35559
Enjoy your new UHD Sony toys ! …
funny …… I also have a new blu ray player ! ….but its only a 2nd hand Piano black “Pioneer BDP LX 08” in as new condition with original box and looks to be hardly used ….100 euro from eBay (new price would have been 800 euro back in 2009!) …well pleased with it ! 🙂 🙂
The UHD blu rays seem to cost double ….round about 40 euro each….seems a bit of a slight ripoff to me
…considering a Bluray 1080p are about 16 or 17 Euro …and a bog standard DVD is about 12 euro…..
…but the latest tech will always costs more i suppose……17/03/2017 at 7:50 am #35561

If you’re getting on a bit, it’s probably worth checking if you have UHD eyes before shelling out a lot of wonga.
Re the signal, our UK Drama has deteriorated from fine last week, to a bit iffy Monday, then to a total no-show last night. Summer-is-a-comin’-in.17/03/2017 at 7:56 am #35563
Prices will come down Steve. Yesterday I found 5 decent Bluray 1080 discs at MediaWorld with prices from 7 to 10 euri each. Most of their 4k titles were 29,99.
Blast, sure my 74 year old eyes are up to the job when it comes to appreciating UHD. Wish my teeth had fared as well 🙁 .21/03/2017 at 8:03 am #35872

Derek My one year younger eyes (and teeth) are with yours exactly. But my other half (and the wife of a UHD owning friend) sadly can’t see the difference. My wife even says occasionally, that she can see the SD picture more clearly than the HD. Unbelievable really, but you can’t see through another’s eyes!
Meanwhile, I have never had bovva with ITVHD Wales or Granada as “other channels” before, but they bombed out towards the end of Broadchurch last night – no adverse weather. Is this a new low, or just been lucky previously?23/03/2017 at 2:45 pm #35890
I started to lose channels a few weeks back. I’ve now lost 4Seven, Yesterday, Drama and the Box music channels. It’s the first time I’ve had problems since installing the current dish a few years ago.
I’m sure they’ll come back eventually….
